I've never tried it myself, but I remember my mom telling me how they used to pick dandelion greens...I come from an Italian family...

That pesto looks good! but dandelion greens are a bit too bitter for me so I prefer to get the benefits from dandelion root extract. I have been taking that everyday for years. It's definitely on my "necessary herbs list".
Thanks for sharing this video, Tina! :)

I think the key to controlling them in either a yard or greenhouse environment would be to making sure you stay on top of when they sprout and start to produce flower. If you want to save seed place a baggy over the flower buds on a few plants, but then do not alllow the other flowers to get to the seed/puff ball stage. I've seen where folks use the flowers to create a jelly too.

Clara is a riot.

I'm thinking of harvesting dandelion seed and planting some in the greenhouse. Hope I won't be sorry...

In Idaho (Hailey) folks just let the dandelions grow in their yard. Not that they did much foraging, but they were cool about the yellow lovelies.

I know..I saw that video and thought....that actually looks good!
I must admit to having wanted to actually purposely plant dandelion in my yard to be able to harvest the young leaves to try them..but I think my neighbors would all think I'd lost a few marbles or two...but I may still do it one day...just have to be careful that they are harvested before they go to seed, and to make sure they were contained in a raised bed as their roots can spread too.I saw another video recently by Clara..the Depression era cooking lady..on youtube..she had gathered the leaves from her front yard and made a little salad ...just drizzled some olive oil and I think it was salt and pepper over the leaves and tossed.
