Very nice tutorial, Judy ~ I've been making my laundry soap for about a year now and am so pleased with it. My clothes just smell so fresh, and of course, I sure do enjoy the savings over commericial soaps. Do you ever have a problem with the soa...

Hi Delinda,
I would actually recommend the Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. See if you can find it at your local library, if not then I definitely recommend adding it to your personal collection.
Also I'd suggest a book on companion planting, with companion planting you are planting such things as flowers next to veggies...but what happens is the other plants help to attract attention away from the things that you really are wanting to see make it to harvest. Also they work together to repel the bad things in the garden.I'd suggest the book "Carrots Love Tomatoes"
Here is a website with a chart on companion planting.
http://www.no-dig-vegetablegarden.com/companion-planting.html
And another website on companion planting:
http://www.ext.nodak.edu/county/cass/horticulture/vegetables/companion.htm
Yet one more chart on companion planting:
http://www.seedsofchange.com/enewsletter/issue_55/companion_planting.aspx
And here is a page on some natural pest control methods:
http://www.no-dig-vegetablegarden.com/organic-garden-pest-control.html
And..one more book I highly recommend which discusses the aspects of crop rotation and a nice garden plan and more is "The Backyard Homestead" a lot of very useful information in there.
I have included another website that has an encyclopedia of sorts of gardening pests and problems, you'll click on the picture of the vegetable and then go to each section, it then has a description of the type of problem and tells you what type of pest is causing the damage and gives a way to treat the pest:
http://insectpestfinder.organicgardeninfo.com/
I hope this was of some help.
Wishing you the absolute best. Gardening is definitely a challenge and always a learning experience. Don't give up!

love your profile pic. I must say though you better hold onto those strawberries real good as I'm a strawberry fiend LOL I think they should have called me "strawberry girl" LOL, could live off of strawberries if I had to..ha.
sadly the chickens get to our bed of strawberries before we do..(they are allowed to free range and wind up in the strawberry patch far too often)we have a 4 ft by 8 ft bed slap full of strawberry plants /will be moving the plants when we move and starting a new strawberry bed with them..and yes at the next house the chickens will not have access to the berries..ha.
