I am in the process of setting up my new studio and thought it would be fun to exchange or discuss arrangements, storage solutions, themes, etc. that we dream of for our creative spaces of the future or for those spaces that are already set up or in progress…
I'm going to have a 5'8" tall x 8' wide design wall and I'm going to use the 4x8 foot sheets of insulation board cut and butted together. I have bought the off white/beige flannel to cover it. I found 54" flannel at Hancock fabrics.
I don't have one yet but I know someone who had a long work table with glass on top. Underneath the glass were pictures and fabric bits and pieces for inspiration. I really need to work on my room. Right now it's a disaster.

I'm hoping to create a small area for myself at the new home..with a writing desk and maybe a small table area and a wall screen..I'm hoping to have it themed with botanicals and birds. I have a set of bird themed ceramic canisters that I will use to hold supplies for my altered art creations.I haven't planned much beyond that.
I have seen where folks use old colorful metal trays/like the picnic trays to use as magnetic memo boards..they are so cute.
Steph, One thing that I like are the 5 bin plastic drawers that have wheels! They are about 4' tall and hold a fair amount of stuff and they are semi-transparent so it's easy to see what's in them.
I finally have all of the supplies to get started on the walls of my studio...I have this grand plan of decoupaging pattern tissue to the walls..yes, ladies, I think I've crossed over the edge! LOL That will be the foundation then I'll layer MUCH other vintage designs over it as time goes on....so forget about doing a collage on a piece of paper or canvas board....just do the WALLS instead..hehehehe
Obviously, this will be a work of art in progress for the rest of my life! :0)
We just got our new heat and air system installation finished so I can work in comfort in the studio..since it's upstairs it was very warm due to the old system not putting out the air flow it should...now I have my own thermostat just for that room so it will stay the right temp!
Monica and Ronna have been great help to me in locating tons of sewing patterns and sheet music.....What would I do without my personal shoppers! LOL Really they saved me! I could not find that many sewing patterns around here.
I've finally come up with a good arrangement in my studio..I'm using odds and ends pieces that I already have...some of which need to be transformed. :-) I've got a lot of decoupaging to do on the wall of bookcases.
My walls are sheetrock painted white but the beams and cathedral ceiling are all natural pine so after arranging everything and knowing that the design wall will take up an entire wall it really didn't leave me much sheetrock to cover..which is good! YAY
Maybe by end of next week I can post some "in progress" photos.
i have a sewing room, and i keep my fabrics in two cupboards, sorted by color and style
my buttons, ribbons, and beads are sorted by color/color families and put in jars
my embroidery floss is also separated by color and put on bobbins and then rings. they are also stored in the same jars
if i ever figure out if there is a place for pix i will upload some

I do not have a sewing studio yet..but I'm thinking that "if" we wind up with the home we are wanting in Ocala..it has a large walk in closet in the master bedroom..and hubby and I do not have that much clothing to take up a huge closet..so I will probably convert half of that huge closet into a studio area as it has loads of shelving across the entire top of the closet and then a section of stacked shelving that is closet maid..And the good thing is..if I do create mess..I can just close the dors and no one will know...hee hee.:0)
oh i like that idea!
my niece has a big walk in in her front room and she has her sewing stuff in there too
i keep telling her to put a desk or table in there for sewing, but she hasnt yet
i see the camera icon. i will look for the pix tomorrow and put some up
i am heading off to bed
